Every product assessed by GB.ITech Labs is measured against the same criteria so that scores are comparable across a category.

What we assess

  • Features and capability. Does the product do the core job better than a general-purpose alternative?
  • Ease of use. Time to a first useful result, and the quality of the day-two experience.
  • Pricing and value. Total cost, including human time, measured against the outcome delivered.
  • Integrations. How well the product fits into an existing stack.
  • Support. Documentation quality, responsiveness and available support channels.
  • Security and privacy information. Published data handling, training, retention and access-control information.
  • Target user fit. Who the product is genuinely built for, and who should look elsewhere.
  • Product maturity. Release history, stability and signs of active maintenance.
  • Documentation. Depth and accuracy of public documentation.
  • Competitive positioning. How the product compares with the realistic alternatives in its category.

Evidence basis

We do not claim first-hand testing unless the product was actually used. Each assessment indicates the basis it rests on:

  • Hands-on tested — we used the product directly.
  • Editorial research — structured analysis without full hands-on access.
  • Vendor information — details supplied by the vendor.
  • Public documentation — the vendor's published materials.
  • User feedback — aggregated public reviews and community reports.

Most assessments combine several of these. Where a rating is aggregated from third-party sources, the source is named on the page.

Scoring

Scores are expressed on a consistent scale and reflect the criteria above. A score is a summary, not a substitute for reading the assessment: a product that scores lower overall may still be the right choice for a specific use case, and pages call that out where relevant.

Re-scoring

Scores are revisited when a product changes materially — a repricing, a significant capability change, an acquisition or a change in data handling. Where a score changes, the page records that it was updated.

Independence

Commercial relationships do not determine scores. See the editorial policy and advertising disclosure.
